Who, what are we voting for this year?
Published on 8/18/2025
Where to find nonpartisan LWV information about races on your ballot
In Ohio, odd-year elections are local elections
where voters elect mayors, city and village council members, township trustees, school board members, and municipal judges. Issues, such as school levies, city charter or zoning amendments, county or city tax levies, and sometimes even statewide issues may be on the ballot (although not this year). Cuyahoga County offices – the county executive, county council members, and the county prosecutor are elected in even year elections (see
Election Cycles in Ohio and Cuyahoga County
).
Cuyahoga County has 59 municipalities (cities, villages, and townships) and 33 school districts (see
Here's Cuyahoga County
); each of these governing entities has several elected officials. Some municipal councils are organized by wards, others are at-large.
Some communities have primary elections in May or September; all will have one or more races on the November General Election ballot. Hence, odd-year elections produce a great many ballot races in Cuyahoga County. LWV of Greater Cleveland attempts to provide as much nonpartisan information on these local elections as possible through
Vote411.org
(an online voter guide), a few printed Voter Guides, candidate forums for contested races, and forums covering ballot issues.
All Cuyahoga County communities are covered by
Vote411.org
. Some of our communities are fortunate in having separate LWV chapters to provide candidate forums, issue forums, and meet and greets for races in their community. To find forums that may be taking place in your community, look for upcoming forums on the LWVGC home page “Upcoming Events,” and on webpages for specific chapters, which can be found under the menu tab above for Chapters, or go directly to the
LWVGC YouTube Channel home page
and look up the Election 2025 playlists. Both upcoming livestreams and recorded forums are available there.
LWV is strictly nonpartisan on candidate races. LWV does not support or endorse individual candidates or political parties.
