The forum will be video-recorded for later viewing and posted on the LWVGC YouTube site (https://www.youtube.com/@lwvgreatercleveland) by midnight after the forum.

The final ballot language and summary of each amendment will be available online at VOTE411.org. Amendments will cover the following topics:


  • Gender-Neutrality – replacing gendered terms and language throughout the Charter with gender-neutral and gender-inclusive terms and language.
  • Department Name Modernization - updating and modernizing the names of administrative officers and departments.
  • Recall Elections – changing the process of recall elections so that the recall or removal of an officer results in a vacancy.
  • Initiative and Referendum - changing the number of signatures required on petitions for an initiative or referendum from a percentage of registered voters of the City to a percentage of the total ballots cast in the City’s last regular municipal election and adjusting such percentages.
  • Council’s Presiding Officer -providing that the Vice Mayor shall preside at all meetings of Council.
  • Anti-discrimination - prohibiting discrimination by the City.
