CHUH LWV chapter members -

Be sure to attend the May 10 Chapter Chat, 2 p.m. at the Heights Lee Road Library, when our LWV observers of the CHUH school and library boards share their expertise with chapter members on critical issues facing our communities.

Our schools and libraries have championed efforts for DEI, historical accuracy, and freedom of speech, all now under attack by both federal and state policies. How are our CHUH officials reacting to the challenge? Our observers are “there” and can fill us in on what is happening.

Observers attend meetings, access online materials, see our elected and appointed officials in action, and have become experts on CHUH elected bodies and local issues. Chapter members can read their written reports, but an in-person discussion, such as what transpires in our Chapter Chats, can explore matters and concerns not easily conveyed in written material.

Detailed overviews of the observer reports for the School Board and the Library Board can be found at LWVGC: Event Link.

We are aware that there is a protest in Tremont at the same time as this meeting, but hope that you will attend our meeting instead.  Remember that our local governments have a major impact on our day to day lives, and are also the easiest level of government for us to influence. This gathering is also a way to support and recognize our observers who faithfully attend meetings month after month and write up summaries, not only for us but for our communities.  And there will be treats  :-D

No one can terrorize a whole nation unless we are all their accomplices.  Edward R Murrow, Journalist

The best portion of a good man's life is his little, nameless, unremembered acts of kindness and of love. -William Wordsworth, poet (7 Apr 1770-1850)

All the goodness and the heroisms will rise up again, then be cut down again, and rise up.
It isn't that the evil thing wins - it never will - but that it doesn't die.  John Steinbeck
