Meet Your League!
Countywide Networking Opportunity at Our Annual Meeting

The LWVGC Annual Meeting is Saturday, May 31. Meet League members from all over Greater Cleveland, compare notes, learn about what others are doing! You might be able to give someone else information or an idea. Who knows what might happen? You won't, unless you attend!

The meeting will be in person and virtual. For in-person attendees, doors open at 9:00 a.m. at the SEIU Headquarters in Shaker Square, 13000 Shaker Boulevard, Cleveland.  There is parking behind the building. Our speaker will be Chris Ronayne, Cuyahoga County Executive.

We need you there, so we have a quorum to transact business. Registration is required. The meeting is free but if you wish to purchase a box lunch you must register by this Saturday, May 24.  Go to our website to register, here.

Rally For Fair School Funding
At the Ohio State House

The League of Ohio and the Farmers Union will rally for fair school funding, with a focus on rural schools, on Wednesday, May 28 at noon, with legislator visits at 1:00 p.m. Learn the details and sign up here.

HB 96 is the Ohio budget bill for FY 2026-2027. It passed the Ohio House on April 9, and is pending in the Ohio Senate.

The House budget abandons the Fair School Funding plan. It eliminates supplemental assistance for poorer districts to address gaps in local funding, while expanding vouchers for private schools. Most rural areas have no private schools, so the budget will undercut the education of rural Ohio children. We are more familiar with its effect on the urban poor; this is a reminder that Ohio is a diverse state.
