Election Season is Gearing Up

Volunteers needed this Saturday, August 23

Volunteers are needed for the Airstream trailer event at Cleveland State University this Saturday. Help out from 12-3 (or however long you can stay) to register college students to vote, explain how to vote by mail, and show students from out of state how to vote in Ohio. Contact Gale Husney at galemarie1960@gmail.com, or go here to register.

Ward 3 Forum

If you live in Cleveland Ward 3, or know someone who does, please tell them that the League of Women Voters of Greater Cleveland will be hosting a Ward 3 Council Candidate Forum on Wednesday, September 3 from 6-7:30 PM. The address is 2820 E. 116th St., Cleveland.

Cleveland Heights/University Heights News

The CHUH chapter attended the CH-UH Back to School Resource Fair on August 16. League members registered voters and handed out voter information. Carol Spackey is seen on the left; Amy Vegh is seen on the right.

Fair Maps Day - Columbus - September 17

Once again, the League of Women Voters will be fighting for Fair Maps in Ohio. The job has been complicated by the highly unusual, off-year redrawing of legislative maps across the country - all being done to gain political power. Ohio is the only state in the country that is mandated to draw new maps this fall.

The League of Women Voters of Ohio is organizing a Fair Maps Day in Columbus on Wednesday, September 17, from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM, in front of Trinity Episcopal Church, 125 E. Broad St., Columbus. It would be great if people from Greater Cleveland could make the trek to Columbus for the event. The more we show up, the more we are seen and heard. Legislators from all sides do pay attention! For more information, and to register, please go here.
