It's the Season for Civic Action

Opportunity - this Saturday, September 27

The first ever Ohio Youth Civic Action Day is happening this Saturday, September 27, from 10 AM to 2 PM. It is both live (Cincinnati) and virtual. The League of Women Voters of the Cincinnati area is a co-sponsor of the event which is meant to find common ground and promote civic action.

If you know any college or high school aged groups or individuals who might be interested, please forward this link to them.

LWVGC turned out for Fair Maps Day

Undaunted by the drive to Columbus, several members of the League of Women Voters of Greater Cleveland attended the Statehouse rally in support of Fair Maps on Wednesday, September 17. More than 500 people from all over Ohio made their voices heard. There were more than enough participants  to encircle the Statehouse.

Participating in these rallies is important. Legislators should not ignore 500 enthusiastic and determined people demanding fair maps. Outside funding groups cannot ignore it either. Ohio will not be written off.

Thank you to those who attended

Your Voice, Your Vote, Your Power Tour Wraps Up

We extend our thanks to Gale Husney and her team for making the Northeast Ohio section of the second annual college tour a huge success. According to event organizer, Trevor Martin of LWVOhio, volunteers spoke to more than 200 students, registered twelve new voters and received nine absentee ballot requests at Case Western Reserve University and Baldwin Wallace University.

Reaching out to college students is important, because many of them do not understand the importance of voting; the requirements to vote in person, early, or absentee; or the requirements that students who are not from Ohio need to fulfill to vote in Ohio.
