Election Day Is Fast Approaching

Local Elections Matter

I was distressed to hear a speaker at the Cleveland No Kings rally mention the importance of voting in 2026 and 2028, but not this year - 2025. People assume that local elections, often called "off-year" elections, are not that important. Nothing could be further from the truth. Judges, school board members, mayors and others are voted for. Local budget issues are often on the ballot, too.

You can take steps to help Get out the Vote: text 3 friends with a friendly reminder to vote; post on social media; put out your Vote lawn sign; tell people at your book club; remind your waiter or waitress, your UPS driver, or the person who makes your coffee. You can tell people about Vote411. Remind them that the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections has changed (it is now at 1803 Superior Ave., Cleveland). Small actions do make a difference.

Budget Impacts on Local Communities

The League of Women Voters of Hudson has graciously shared their recording of a forum they held on September 11, 2025. Titled: How Budget Cuts Impact you, this forum considered the impact of recently passed federal and state budgets on communities in Ohio. You may find the recording here
