Subject: Heights Chapter E-News - TODAY! Hear the Inside Scoop on the City Councils
From: Wendy Deuring

Heights Chapter E-News -
Get the Inside Scoop on our City Councils

- Sunday, Nov 16,  2:00-4:00   Meeting with our City Council Observers. What could they possibly have to talk about?  Come find out at the Noble Road library - 2800 Noble Road  ;-)

Also:
-  Tuesday, Nov 18th,   7-8:30 pm,  online forum by LWVGC on "Let's Talk Taxes: Financing Public Goods and Services in Ohio."

Come Hear the Insider Scoop on our City Councils

- You know we have members who attend or watch every one of our city council, school board and library board meetings.
- You know they diligently write up summaries of those meetings which you read online or in the Heights Observer.
BUT do you realize how much doesn't make it into those nice summaries written for publication?

Well, this is it! - your opportunity to hear straight from our observers what all gets left in the proverbial editor's recycle bin. If you haven't been to one of these sessions yet (we have them every six months), I think this is the one to come to.  You know that SO much has been happening in both the Cleveland Hts. and University Hts. City Councils.  Show up and get the skinny.  Even as you enjoy some snacks.  ;-)

To read the CH Summary before the meeting (or after) click HERE.  Hopefully the UH summary will be posted shortly.

This Sunday, November 16th    2-4:00   Noble Road Library  (2800 Noble Road.)

and bonus - you'll be done in time to watch the Browns play at 4:25 if you so choose.

Let's Talk Taxes: Financing Public Goods and Services in Ohio

Please join LWVGC for an online Forum on taxes in Ohio on Tuesday, November 18, from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM.

Amid the flurry of property tax reform proposals and Ohio's newly adopted flat income tax,LWVGC thinks it is time to take a step back and look at how we finance public goods and services in Ohio. There is an urgent need to modernize Ohio’s tax code to be more equitable while ensuring that local communities have the resources they need to provide services for their residents including public education, public safety, health and human services, libraries; all of the things we expect of our local governments.

Moderator: Anna Staver, Statehouse Reporter, The Plain Dealer/cleveland.com

Bill of Obligations - The 10 Habits of Good Citizens

From the Card Campaign: The Constitution and Voting Rights
Some of you are aware of the "Card Campaign" which was started last year to provide informational handouts to voters. They have just issued two new cards - on our Constitutional Amendment Rights and our Voting Rights.  These cards are designed to be printed out or shared in social media.

MEMBERSHIP ROSTER IS HERE!

Going forward the directory will be updated quarterly and posted to our chapter's website at www.lwvgreatercleveland.org (and emailed to new members.)  But here is your first (in a very VERY long time) member directory.  With major credit to Janice Foster who just couldn't believe we didn't have such a thing.  Thank you Janice!
* With apologies to people who have joined this year - I have not been able to update the roster, which is a manual process.  If anyone is interested in doing a Review/Replace process, reply to this email and let me know.  Otherwise, I will hopefully have time after the upcoming elections.
