Things are Heating Up

Program Planning

Please sign up for one of two Program planning meetings; the first is in Shaker Heights this Sunday, February 1.

Program Planning - where members define League’s advocacy goals

By inviting all members to participate in the development of policy positions and advocacy priorities, the League of Women Voters is a truly grassroots organization. While the League leadership decides stances on ballot issues and organizes advocacy activities, including legislative testimony, they must do so within the confines of the priorities and positions decided by the membership and according to League’s Principles.

This year, we will be considering the proposed LWVUS Program to be addressed at the LWVUS Convention:

"Women Defend Democracy: Democracy Under Siege.” The Convention will focus on the following areas:

  • Voting Rights
  • Election Protection
  • Redistricting
  • Individual Liberties
  • Immigration
  • The Presidency
You may sign up for the February 1 session here.
You may sign up for the February 8 session here.

Please review the LWVGC's local policy positions. They can be found on our website here.

Exciting Opportunity

League members have been invited to attend a conference on Strengthening Democracy through Civic Engagement and Peace Building on Friday, February 13, from 9:30 AM - 4:30 PM. This event is being held at John Carroll University in University Heights, Ohio, and is sponsored by the Ohio Peace and Conflict Studies Network Conference.

There will be an opening panel in the morning and workshops in the afternoon. A working lunch, where you can eat and talk with people who have similar interests, is included. The cost is $35 for those not associated with an Ohio college or university. The registration deadline is February 3. You can register here.
