Summer is Heating Up with Activity

National Day of Action

August 8, 2026 has been designated a National Day of Action by the League of Women Voters of the United States. Called "Unite and Rise for Voting Rights", it coincides with the anniversary of the Voting Rights Act of 1965. Celina Stewart, CEO of the League of Women Voters of the United States gives the succinct rationale for the nationwide event: "Democracy doesn't defend itself, people do.

League members can participate in the National Day of Action by registering voters on August 8 at the Cleveland Back to School Festival being held at Cleveland Public Auditorium, 500 Lakeside Avenue E, Cleveland, Ohio, 44114 from 8 AM to 12 PM. You may sign up here.

There is a Virtual National Pep Rally at 3 PM on August 6 to celebrate and remind attendees of the power of collective action and equip them with the tools to mobilize their communities. You may sign up here.

Save the Date
