Rocky River League of Women Voters... since May 13, 1953
Twenty-one persons including three Ohio State Board members met at the home of Mrs. Herter this date. Mrs. Marsal, the Unit leader, presided…Thus began the Rocky River League of Women Voters. A June meeting was scheduled because it was feared that “our spark might be lost by fall.”
Few of the names of these original members are familiar today: Mrs. Tielke, president, Mrs. Williams, Mrs. Sprague, Mrs. Teare. Still in good health is one of our founding members, Betty Weiss. Betty’s membership card for the Rocky River League – provisional – is dated September 1, 1954.
A few distinguished presidents include: Jean Marsal, Peg Campbell, Grace Williams, and Barbara Gibbs.
