Our nonpartisan advocacy takes three primary forms.
We amplify, educate and advocate.
There are many ways to be involved in League Advocacy and we are always looking for new ways to engage. Come join us!
We amplify the positions of the League of Women Voters of the United States and particularly the League of Women Voters of Ohio by keeping members informed of the activities and proposed bills of the Ohio General Assembly. We do this work through partaking in LWV Ohio Lobby Corps and developing relationships with our state-level issue-specific lobbyists.
We educate around upcoming issues, usually legislative issues. This is typically through our monthly chapter newsletter, the Voter, to equip and prime members for action. We also educate ourselves about issues, and about League policy and positions so that know how best to proceed. Through chapter community forums we also use expert panels to share information on topics.
We advocate with our legislators, often alongside partner and neighborhood organizations, on League positions that are of high priority and in keeping with League strategy. Our advocacy takes many forms. We meet with legislators, write letters to the editor, write and/or give testimony before the legislature, and hold events for our members and the community. We also coordinate with other Greater Cleveland chapters on actions, show up in Columbus to lobby legislators, and rally for a League position.
