Complete and Green Streets 101: Reimagining Mobility
About this event
Streets are public rights of way that can help define a neighborhood or community. Well-designed streets can enhance a community’s quality of life for people of all ages. Think greater safety, walkability, access, bike-ability, traffic flow. Local communities across Northeast Ohio are rethinking street designs to improve conditions for pedestrians, cyclists, and transit riders as well as for vehicular drivers.
This program will offer a more in-depth understanding of the benefits of complete and green streets and suggest ways to work within your own community to make streets safe for all.
Speakers/panelists:
Angie Schmitt is an internationally recognized expert on pedestrian safety and author of the book Right of Way: Race, Class and the Silent Epidemic of Pedestrian Deaths in America, published in 2020 by Island Press. She is a sought-after speaker and leading voice for reforms nationally.
Phil Kidd is a planner in the Mayor’s Office of Capital Projects in the City of Cleveland. He manages the Complete & Green Streets (CGS) program as well as trail projects for the City.
Annie Pease, Cuyahoga County’s Senior Advisory for Transportation, advises the County Executive on transportation policy, services, infrastructure and other critical mobility issues.
Jacob Van Sickle is Executive Director of Bike Cleveland, working to make Cleveland’s roadways safer and neighborhoods more vibrant.
